Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where are Balder powered wheelchairs made?

The wheelchairs are manufactured in Norway by Hand-Pro AS, part of the ETAC group. Hand-Pro AS has over 20 years experience of converting cars/vans for wheelchair drivers. In the early years, it became apparent that a major limitation for disabled drivers was the wheelchair itself. So, soon after starting the company, a prototype was created that has evolved into the hi-tech powerchairs available today.

Can the Balder chair be modified to suit my requirements?

Our manufacturers have electrical, mechanical and upholstery specialists that have the necessary skills to meet your requirements. The powerchairs are sufficiently flexible to allow a range of seating systems, controls, accessories, colours and fabrics. A number of the more frequently chosen are shown in our brochure although there are many more options, so please ask!

What is the maximum weight limit for Balder users?

The maximum weight limited for the F290 and the F290J is 100kg. The maximum weight limit for the other powerchairs in the Balder range is 120kg.

Do I get a warranty?

Each new Balder powerchair is supplied with a 2 year warranty. Generally, this covers failures (parts and labour) that are not as a result of accidental damage or misuse. Under the terms of this agreement, it is a requirement to have a preventative maintenance service carried out annually.

How should a Balder powered wheelchair be used in a car/van or public transport?

Balder powered wheelchairs are suitable for use in a range of vehicles for passengers and drivers alike. All of the chairs in our range comply with the relevant international standards and have been tested accordingly. The chair is supplied with 3 clamping point for use with manual webbing restraints and in addition, we have our unique automatic clamp down system.
